THRILLERFEST 2008
Marshall attended ThrillerFest 2008 in New York City July 9-12. It was quite an experience
meeting and talking with a slew of best selling thriller writers. The conference
was organized by the International Thriller Writers Organization. He was pleased
at the opportunity to absorb varied view points on how to write a thriller, and he
is positive his next book will be vastly enriched by their sage advice. The four
day event also included an afternoon with agents. Forty or so agents looking for
new talent were present in a well-organized room to facilitate three-minute interviews
with authors who had completed a manuscript. This AgentFest afternoon, gave him a
shot at introducing the Ancestor Series books to about a dozen agents he’d pre-selected
from their bios. He received some encouragement and valuable feedback in the months
following, but a relationship didn’t gel. His intention is to return to ThrillerFest
to introduce The Apothecary, his current mystery-thriller project, to agents and
mingle while getting up to date with the organization’s activities. You can check
out the organization out at www.thrillerwriters.org.
PROMOTIONAL PLANS
For the first time, 2010 will see the launch of an Internet publicity campaign to
expose the Ancestor Series of adventure-thrillers to the reading market, and prepare
for the launch of The Apothecary mystery-thriller late in the year. It will be the
first time he’s invested the time, effort, and financial resources to promote his
books. Over eleven years of learning how to write, he’d elected to write rather than
promote. Maybe this is his year !!
